Guidelines for Fasting
- Declare before God that you are fasting. Ask for His assistance.
- Identify the purpose for fasting.
- Dress and groom as usual while fasting. Fasting is not the time to falsely attempt “look holy” by appearing sad or famished.
- Read, listen to, and meditate on the Word during the fast. Set your will to hear and obey anything that the Father ministers to you.
- Allow God to be your focus. Increase your time of prayer and confession.
- At the end of the fast, maintain everything that God ministered to you during the fast.
* Note: If you are pregnant, nursing, on medication or under a physicians care, you can eat raw fruits and vegetables and drink unsweetened fruit juice during the hours of food abstinence. Consult your physician for additional guidance.
